In view of the Volkswagen scandal could I claim for the DPF?

Last year I had to have the DPF replaced at a cost of around £900. In light of the Volkswagen scandal, is it likely I will be able to claim this back? After receiving a letter confirming my vehicle is affected, I read that the 1.6 CR engine will need new fuel injectors and a hardware tweek.

The way I see it is that the DPF is there to reduce emissions and if they are in breech of the laws, then I may not have had to have this replaced. What are you views?

That is a distinct possibility. The I.6 TDI has had a lot of EGR and DPF problems and now we know the reason why. In a few months time you could be in a strong position to claim for the DPF.
