Dealer can't fix a faulty trip computer - what are my options?

My Nissan Navara is about 14 months old and has been back to the dealer on three occasions to have the trip computer fixed The dealer has done his best to repair it, but says it's a software problem and they have no access to the software.

It's not a huge problem, but why should I accept such a lame excuse from a major manufacturer? What do you suggest I do?

That's unacceptable. The dealer you bought it from is legally obliged to fix it or replace it entirely. Tell him if he doesn't, you will seek an independent solution and will then bill him for it, suing him if necessary for the cost using the Small Claims Track of the County Court. Claim that for a business vehicle a working trip computer is absolutely vital for recording mileages for HMRC.
