Are dealers required by law to provide warranties on cars for sale?

Can you advise if a garage is required by law to provide a warranty on the sale of a car, and if not, under what circumstances can they refuse and whether this would affect my Statutory Rights? I am contemplating buying a vehicle from a garage that seems to deal in sub-£2000 vehicles, but do advertise the fact that they also sell cheaper trade cars without warranties. The car I am looking at is priced at £1495. I haven't viewed the car yet so I'm unaware if a warranty will be offered, but forewarned is forearmed.

See: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights which tells you your consumer rights. But obviously you have to be 'reasonable' about this. A used car selling for £1495 is probably a tenth of its original price. So you cannot expect it to be perfect.
