Why does the engine fan continue to run after the car's switched off?
We have a Skoda question: from time to time the engine cooling fan our new (2014) Octavia 2.0 TDi continues to run for an interminable period after the engine has been switched off.
I understand in principle why this happens, but Skoda are unable to explain why the fan does not switch off automatically after it has done its job. I am forced to switch on the engine and then switch off again to stop the fan.

It hasn't done its job until the turbo has cooled down, which is why it continues to run when the engine is switched off. But if it continues to run for for than 15 minutes then there is likely to be a fault with the temp sensor sender switch in the cylinder block, a common VAG fault.
