Can I fit different tyres to my 2008 Toyota Auris to improve the ride comfort?

Having just bought a Toyota Auris 1.6 SR petrol 2008 model and the wife has complained about the harsh ride. I want to keep the 17-inch wheels, but would like to know if a bigger profile may soften the ride a bit. It's currently fitted with Dunlop Sport 225/45/ZR17/91W tyres.

No. The only way to deal with this is to go down a wheel size or two and fit deeper profile tyres of matching circumference. But I'd better warn you that unlike a Focus or a Golf, the handling of an Auris turns to mush on deeper profile tyres. See: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/toyota/toyota-auri...d

Decent combination of ride and handling that might suit some people better than a harder sprung Golf or a Civic. A few inches taller than a Golf of Focus so easier to get in and out.
