Refitting Summer tyres (Goodyear) by local ford dealer having taken Winter tyres off

Ford Focus 61 Reg, bought from my local Ford Dealer last October with 7000 mls).
Car taken to the Dealer to have my winter tyres removed (sold by dealer) and my Goodyear tyres refitted (stored by Ford Dealer). On inflating the Goodyear tyres all four had bugles in the side walls, front and rear face, some space apart.
The tyre fitters and Service manager confirmed that walls had not been damaged i.e. kerb damaged and there was plenty of life left in the tyres, could not understand why although all 4 had the same batch number.
They have sent the tyres to Goodyear for investigation and agreed to replace the tyres at cost price - Uniroyals.
What I don't understand is how 4 Good tyres (as inspected by dealer on removal) can in 6 months have this problem ahving only been stacked in pairs on hardboard.
I'm paranoid when driving and when safe to do so avoid pot hots etc and park clear of kerbs, every time I wash my car I treat the tyres with an Auto Glym tyre treatment.
Can you advise what could be the problem....what possible action I could take to re-cooperate my money?
Thank you

I can't understand that either. I routinely store my summer tyres on wheels from October to April, and my winters from April to October, stacked on their sides on top of each other with no problems. They do have to be stored in a dark, dry room, of course. Could be that the process of swapping the tyres from wheel to wheel damaged them. Or that vermin, such as rats, got inside the tyres and damaged the carcasses with urine.
