Should I buy a used Audi A3?

I am about to buy a used car for occasional and weekend driving in and around south London. After looking at various options I have narrowed down my choice to a 2004 Audi A3 1.6 petrol, which has covered 118,000 miles.

Would it cost me a fortune to maintain it? I intend to run it for another 10,000 miles and move it on. MPG is not a worry for me, just the repair costs. Any suggestions?

It carries more status than a Skoda Octavia or SEAT Leon or Volkswagen Golf, which you pay for, but the quality is no higher. Not sure if a 2004 is belt cam or chain, but if belt then that, waterpump and tensioner are all due for a change. Obviously art Audi prices rather than Ford prices, it's much more expensive to run than a Focus or Fiesta.

Can you tell me if the Audi A3 has any known mechanical issues? I’m in the market for a used example with high mileage, but don’t want to buy a money pit.
