Which oil for my Volkswagen Golf diesel?

I have recently topped up Halfords Opel Engine oil (petrol) into my Volkswagen Golf (diesel). This was for fill up, I topped up about 0.75 litre to 1 litre. It wasn't exactly the right oil.

I have noticed heating bubble noise randomly during cold engine. After a while it slowly goes away.

Can someone please specify whether I am OK to leave it as it or if I should consider draining the oil and put the correct engine oil. What could the harm be if I was leave it?

The oil grade for your car ( assuming a Mk 5) would be 5W/30.
We cannot get the link that you have shown to see what Halfords are showing ,but would not concern yourself over adding .75 lts of oil whether Mineral/or synthetic.
