How often to use air con to keep it fit?

I recently bought a second hand Toyota Aygo Black 1.0L with air con. How often should it be used? Does it reduce mpg greatly if used in this small car?

Use it weekly for about 10 minutes because the lubricant for the seals in the system is suspended in the refrigerant. If you don't use it regularly the seals will fail and you will lose refrigerant. Don't use it at low speeds in traffic. That's when it will use the most fuel. Will use very little cruising at 60-70.
