How far do I need to travel to regenerate the DPF?

I have narrowed my choice of new car down to the Volkswagen Golf 1.6 TDI. I do mostly city driving, but a few times a month will go on longer journeys on faster roads. That said, my typical journeys are around 30 minutes at 30mph several times per day. Can you tell me if this will be enough to regenerate the DPF?

You will almost inevitably suffer DPF problems and the 1.6TDI is not the best engine anyway. I recorded the total failure of one only this morning. Better the 1.2TSI 86 or 105.
