Can you recommend a small and economical car for £4000?

My mother needs a small economical car that’s reliable. She drives around town most of the time and once a week she does a return trip of 100 miles to see her mother. Any suggestions? She has a budget of £4000.

My recommendation would be a Citroen C1.
