I want to buy a Toyota Avensis Tourer - is this a good choice?

I wish to purchase a Toyota Avensis Tourer. I would like to go for the brand new model with the multivalve 1.8-litre petrol engine. Do you consider this a good choice? Are there any known problems with this engine?

I like the Toyota 1.8i Valvematic engine very much. It is smooth, good to drive and almost as economical as Toyota's 2.2-litre diesel, and the car is British-built. We tested it in the Avensis here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/toyota/toyota-aven.../ and here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/toyota/toyota-aven.../
