I've just bought a Vauxhall Astra with a power steering fault - how should I proceed?

I've just bought a Vauxhall Astra 1.4 16v SXi 3dr with 7600 miles on the clock. After using it for four days, the power steering seems to fail when going round sharp corners. It just locks up and I have to pull the wheel back round. I'm taking it back to the Vauxhall garage for the problem to be investigated, but where do I stand if they don't find the fault?

Sounds like you need to read our guidance on rejecting a car/consumer rights. This is the link: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights. As for diagnosing and fixing the fault, one of our technical people in the Back Room forum may be able to help.
