Insurance claim

Towards the end of November I hit the back of another car so my fault, and submitted a claim duly answering the usual questions. When my car had been repaired my their garage the accident repairings left a message to say the cat was ready, when I rang them back they said Prudential had put my claim on hold. I rang the Pru who said they couldn't say why but when I pressed them they hinted as to whether I had rammed the other car, next day the repairer to arrange to drop off my car saying it had be OK'd by the Pru'. I recently received a letter from UK Assist saying the Pru' hadinstructed them to get one of their claims inspectors to speak to me and asking to have my licence, MOT and reg doc available, the contact tel they gave was a mobile although the letter heading has RBS address in Bromley which checks out. Is the normal/OK and should I call the chap. There is no mention of my policy details on the letter and I am surprised that the Pru' did not contact me and puzzled as to why UK Assist havn't phoned either as I would have thought they should have my tel if this genuine? Any thoughts please.

PS Pru didn't keep in touch as they said they would. No witnesses as heavy traffic and no injuries etc, the other driver said he was amazed I hadn't hit him harder given the circumstances.

You can simply demand that they contact you by surface mail in writing and you will respond by surface mail. Don't give details to anyone you don't know over the phone or via an email.
