Buying a car for France

Hello, I have found a query and answer already (http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/holiday-home-cars/ ) but my question concerns the legality of buying a car in France to use at our small apartment and which will NEVER return to the UK.

The answer above refers to the ability to bring a car back to the UK for an extended period (which is not allowed if registered in France). I want to simply buy and keep a small run-around (registered and insured in France and subject to their equivalent of MOT etc) for use when we are in France (for less than 183 days a year to ensure UK residency maintained!!). Is this legal please?

No reason why not. If you have any problem with the legal processes of insuring and registering it seek the help of your 'assessor' or other legal representative in France.
