Buying a cheap, robust car

I live in an area where parking is incredibly scarce and tight and where bumpers tend to get scraped or scratched on an above-average basis.

I'm thinking of replacing my current car, a silver MK6 1.6 Golf TDI, with something that is either a bit more robust or cheaper or easier to touch up or have repainted when a panel or bumper gets scratched. Do you have any recommendations - ideally around the same size as a Golf? Relatively high ground clearance would be a plus.

Also is there any colour which is easier for minor home repainting and touch ups? I've heard silver is one of the worst.
