Astra 1.9 diesel a good buy?

I have Nissan Almera 1.5 petrol, 64,000 miles and I pay about £30 per week to travel. I drive in town and on the motorway.

I always wanted to have an automatic diesel so I found a car - Vauxhall Astra 1.9 CDTi SRi [120] 5dr Auto [Exterior Pack] 2006 and I love it.

My question is will I pay more for fuel for that Astra? Will that Astra use more?

If yes what should I get? Auto and diesel or maybe petrol. I need a very reliable car.

The 1.9 engine in this Astra can have a lot of problems. See car by car. Buying used, consider a Hyundai i30 or KIA cee'd 1.6CRDI 4-speed auto.
