Insurance scam?

Three weeks ago I met up with a friend for a round of golf at a very exclusive golf club in Surrey. I parked in their non-members car park without incident and even played a reasonable round of golf.

I have just returned from holiday to find a letter from Surrey police telling me that my car was involved in a road traffic accident in that car park at roughly the time I would have arrived. My car does have an unexplained scrape on one side but as I said I was completely unaware of any mishap and suspect someone might have hit me in the car park and is now trying to shift the blame, perhaps targeting the sort of people who frequent this place and who might have more money than sense when it comes to paying up without a murmur. I don't!

I haven't been able to get more details from Surrey police yet - am I being set up here?

Yes.

Go and see the police. Make a statement that nothing happened while you were driving your car and that it must have happened while your car was parked and you were playing golf.
