i30 or used Golf?

I am weighing up whether to buy a 2nd hand (upto 2 year old) Golf 140 GT TDi (maybe Bluemotion Tech) or a new i30 1.6D 126hp Bluedrive (through Drive the deal, so both a similar price).

I do 20k miles a year and like driving diesels, so think I'm looking at the right motors. However, with that mileage fuel consumption is an issue. No "real data" is available yet for the i30, but the Golf has nice high figures.

A) Do you think the i30 will have a good fuel consumption (>60mpg, like the high power i40 does).

B) Even if it does, would you say I would be better with the solid, "conservative" Golf?

Buy the new Hyundai or the new KIA cee'd. We averaged 60mph and 60mpg in Switzerland in the new KIA cee'd equivalent yesterday. They are both better quality with a better warranty than the Golf.

Comfortable and quiet on the move, enjoyable to drive. Nicely trimmed with great attention to detail. 1.4 TSI sweeter to drive than a diesel.
