Need an MPV with comfortable seats and easy access

I have just sold my beloved T4 in order to buy a more economical family car. My wife and I have both broken our backs at some point in the past and due to this, we are keen to get a car with higher seats (MPV style) to make it easier to get our son (18m) in and out of the car.

Therefore, practicality is a priority. As is reliability - I have only owned VW before and have been happy with them. We have approximately £8k to spend and are thinking along the lines of SEAT Altea / Ford C Max at al.

However, as I like to sit quite upright, I am finding that the headrests push my head forward so that it is uncomfortable. The SEAT is the better of the two but still not great. I have tested the C3 Picasso which is better in this respect but find the footwell too cramped for my size 11's.

With all this in mind, my question is 2 fold: Have you any further suggestions of a vehicle that may suit? Also, would it be practical and safe to change the headrests in the Altea for others in the VW group which may offer more comfort for me?

The C-Max is the easiest vehicle to get in and out of that I have ever experienced. The Mazda 5 runs it close. I can't tell you what alternative head restraints will fit the Altea. I guess you should also try the VW Golf Plus and maybe a Honda FR-V. if you can find one.
