Citroen C4 EGS questions

I own a Xsara Picasso with manual gears. My wife has shattered her left wrist and will be unable to use the gears or handbrake. We are looking at a Citroen C4 Picasso EGS which has auto gear change on steering wheel and auto-electric parking brake. Does one get used to the significant delay in selection between first and second gear - the salesman says yes! Can the braking system cause problems with disc/pad seizure if car not used for 2 months? Can the system be de-activated?

The system automatically damps the throttle on upchanges, but when this happens some drivers press the accelerator harder to compensate and this rersults in very lurchy progress. You have to lift slightly as the gears change.
