I am looking for a secondhand warm hatch for around £6-7k. What do you recommend?

You'll get a Peugeot 207 GT 1.6THP 150 for that sort of money. Unfortunately not a Citroen DS3 1.6THP 150 with a 6 speed box, that the 207 really needs but does not have.
