Insurance claim out of the blue

My son had a minor collision with another vehicle on a narrow country lane, my son maintains he was pulled right over to the kerb and scratches from bushes seem to confirm this.

Both parties broke their off side door mirrors, no one was injured and there was no other damage. As a student he did not want to involve the insurance as even though he felt the other side were responsible because of their poor spacial awareness he did not want his premiums to increase even if no fault was proven. The other driver was in an estate car belonging to her company but seemed to suggest nothing further would come of it. My son bought another wing mirror on E-bay, sprayed and fitted it, end of story or so he thought.

Some 3 months later a letter came from a company called DAS based in Caerphilly wanting their letter forwarded to his insurance company to pursue a claim on behalf of their client. Is this a scam or should he treat it seriously and now involve his insurance?

Unfortunately he now has to inform his insurer. Just make sure the other party does not also make a spurious claim for whiplash.
