Heavy front tyre wear on a Vectra

My second hand car has 19" Inovit Wheels. I had 4 new Bridgestone Potansa RE050A tyres - Size 235/35 R 19 91Y rating - fitted 12,000 miles ago in March 2011.

Despite periodic tracking and camber checks my front tyres are badly worn on the inside with gashes and were illegal so I replaced with identical tyres based on a qualified tyre fitter's advice. The cost of my 6 tyres with tracking and camber checks has been well over £1200!

My fitter says I have a camber problem which I am now having checked yet again. I only bought this car as a knee problem meant I had to buy an Automatic. I am an OAP and drive conseratively. What advice can you give to lesson/cure the heavy tyre cost?

Get rid of the stupid 19" wheels and replace them with sensible standard 16" wheels with deeper profile tyres. You will easily sell the 19" wheels and tyres to some idiot on eBay.

Far better than previous Vectra. Now with decent handling and an excellent ride. Plenty of safety kit. Roomy in the front. Big boot. Good looks.
