Garage replaced one my my tyres with a winter tyre.

I purchased my car in December 2011 with a new MOT on it.

It had recently failed the MOT as the n/s/r tyre needed replacing. The garage concerned therefore replaced the tyre and issued the car with a new MOT before selling it to me. All well and good.

Except that they replaced the said tyre with a winter tyre (snow flake in full display) when all three other tyres are "summer" tyres.

This is seemingly contrary to all good advice from any tyre specialist and indeed yourself, who all unanimously recommend that all four tyres should be either winter or summer.

I have checked with VOSA who confirm that to pass an MOT the tyres need only match in size, aspect ratio and tyre structure. Therefore as far as they're concerned the garage are in the right.

Presumably this one winter tyre is doing me no favours and I should ideally replace it, regardless of VOSA's lack of concern?

Might be an all weather tyre not a dedicated winter tyre.
