Can you please help? The MoT on one of my cars, parked off road on our driveway, runs out on the 19th October. I will be out of the country from the 13th September until the 26th October. The car will not be used during this period. As the MoT system only allows for a test to be carried out up to a month before due date, would I be okay to book a test "now" for the 27th October, the first date after I return?

Getting someone else to get the test done for me whilst I'm away will not work as it gives me insurance problems which I don't want to get involved in. The test is always carried out by my main dealer, who always services the car. The tax on the vehicle is not linked to the MOT, the car is taxed through to January of next year.

There is nothing to stop you having the test done before 13th September. Your MoT will only last a year from that date. If you have the MoT within a month of the due date then you effectively get a 13-month MoT. You can't do that. But you are not prevented from getting the test done earlier.
