We are retired and have a 2003/53 Toyota Corolla T3D-4D with 87,000 miles on the clock and are interested to read your view that a modern car has a design life of about 7 years. Our annual mileage is now in the region of 15,000, made up of some 6 to 9 motorway trips to visit family up north (amounting to between 650 and 950 miles each trip) and the remainder made up by shopping, visiting, sightseeing in this lovely part of the world - where the shortest of these round trip journeys will be to 10 or 30 miles, depending on where we choose to shop. Have you any thoughts on whether we should be looking to replace, if so what value might our Corolla have?
