Screeching 206

My car is a 2000 W Peugeot 206 1.1 with 96000 on the clock.

I was driving down the motorway yesterday evening and my car started screeching/whining when I went over 60, but intermittently and it seemed to be when I accelerated or adjusted my steering. I slowed down and covered the rest of my journey at around 50, as I was very fearful something really bad was going to happen. Going to take it to the garage but was wandering what it may be and whether this will be a potentially expensive fault?

Alternator or power steering pump or timing belt tensioner bearing.
