Which small 4x4 is up to the job?

Now on the third front left tyre completely shredded,in one year!

Problem is the narrow back roads in Lincolnshire with badly corrugated edges of the tarmac, high grass verges and no areas for easy pull off. Present car Peugeot 307 diesel. What replacement car should I consider which will have stronger tyres/suspension and a higher driving position suitable for two young children, mainly as second car? A Suzuki Jimny has been suggested, but what else is there, without going to large 4x4s?
