Cheap car for 6 miles a day

I commute on the train every day and the time has come where driving a 3-litre twin turbo BMW 3 miles to the station everyday is not economical, practical or financially viable.

What should I replace it with? Budget could be up to £1500 the car must be reliable, cheap to run, and economical, preferably with very low road tax. Don't care about performance, handling, or practicality as it is just going to sit at the station all day, every day!

Small, insurance friendly economy cars in this price bracket are very bad value, so you'll be better off with something bigger, like a Mondeo III 1.8 petrol (with the inlet manifold swirl flaps removed).
