What are the MOT rules on spare tyres?

If a car has a directional spare tyre (i.e. it has a "rotation" indicator) will it pass the MOT?

I ask because if the said spare was fitted to the car it would only be rotating the right way when fitted to one side of the car.

This is a bit of a blind spot when it comes to MOTs - technically a spare tyre is not required to be fitted to any car and a tester (legally speaking) cannot fail a car due to the condition of the spare. It may be raised as an advisory. If it was fitted to the road wheels in the incorrect direction it would be a failure.
