Re-setting a digital display screen following battery change

I have just changed the battery on my Skoda Octavia and although the radio works and the digital display comes on evry time I switch the engine off and then turn it on again, the digital display panel resets everything at 0 again. e.g. I can set the clock to the correct time but after switching the engine off and then trying again the clock resets itself to 00.00. How does one fix this?

Try this: disconnect the battery and leave for two mins. Then reconnect but DO NOT switch anything on at all for 30 mins. Then restart the car. Hopefully this would have allowed the ECU (management system) to re-boot, and cleared your problem.
