Shifting circumstances

Do you have any views on, or feedback from members concerning best driving technique with Honda’s I-Shift? I currently have a perfectly satisfactory 2006 Jazz 'Sport' with the superb CVT transmission and may trade up to the new Jazz, but understand many users' dismay at the jerkiness in town driving. Your comments would be welcome.

What happens is that the electronics protect the transmission from torque reactions from harsh upshifts, especially 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. If you compensate by pressing harder on the accelerator you will get a 'lurching' feeling as you try to counter what the car's systems want to do. The best technique is to either take it easy, or anticipate the changes by lifting slightly, just before they happen.
