Warped sense

I saw the letter on 23rd Jan from a 2006 RAV-4 owner needing disc replacements. For your files you may wish to note that my 2006 RAV 4 (diesel 2.2) suffered the same problem at just over 3 years and 26,000 miles. I have just had the front discs and pads replaced and have written to Toyota. If they respond positively, I will let you know. I am aware of the possible cause of heavy braking and keeping a foot on the heated brakes but that was not my problem. I saw the replaced discs and they were in quite a state.

This gives another explanation of the problem:
www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp_warped_brakedisk.sht...l It blames every case of "warped brake disc" the author has investigated on friction pad material transferred unevenly to the surface of the disc. This uneven deposition results in thickness variation (TV) or run-out due to hot spotting that occurred at elevated temperatures.
