BMW X5 E53 4.6IS - Intermittent transmission message 16 Dec 2016 (Forum)
I have had a "transmission failsafe mode" message show on initial start up. However, if I switch off and restart the sysytem resets. It has happened twice, both times after a cold night. Is it likely to be a faulty sensor, dampness, ecu or wiring issue? Costly repair? Has anyone -

Ford Focus TDCi 53 plate - OBD2 compliant ? 30 Dec 2012 (Forum)
I'm just wondering of this is OBD2 compliant ? The EEC directive for diesels says "all vehicles from 2004" and all new models from Jan 2003. Connecting my ELM327 to this , I get 'no response from ECU' using various s/w , but all works ok on my 2006 Fiesta (naturally) , and worked fine -

vw golf gt tdi 130 - mk4 golf power loss 14 Apr 2010 (Forum)
My golf intermittantly goes into limp home mode when acelerating. Garage tells me it's a faulty turbo and is quite common . They suggest remapping the ecu to accept the excess boost fault rather than replace turbo. I'm worried that as fault is still actually there some damage -

Tell Tale Glow Plugs 21 Aug 2009 (Forum)
While looking on the Beru website, I found this interesting newish development; http://www.beru.com/download/produkte/fachvortrag_psg_e.pdf The glow plug acts as a pressure sensor, and provides a feedback signal to the ECU, allowing better combustion. Apparently they are to be fitted -
Vauxhall Corsa B (1993 - 2000) - 99 1.2 16v - External temp sensor 11 Apr 2009 (Forum)
My external temperature sensor has a fault as sometimes the dash will display --- instead of the outside temperature, other times I get stupid readings like 50c. I can live with this but does this sensor also tell the ECU what the outside temperature is and this affects the fuel/air flow ratio? -

BMW 3-Series E46 (1998 - 2005) - 01 2.0 diesel; inlet manifold failure 9 Mar 2009 (Forum)
I understand that the manifolds on 320 diesels are known to fail causing much damage to engines. I believe that some folks modify their own but I would like to know if a dealer replacement manifold is improved over the original and whether the ecu will need attention when it is fitted. Regards -

I generally run my cars on Shell V-Power or other high octane fuel, and have done so for many year. In almost every car i have driven, I have heard some pinking (at least I think its pinking), usually whilst driving at medium speed up a hill. I thought that with the advent of ECUs and higher -
