Wife is learning to drive and needs to practise but finds my car Rover 416 a bit hard to drive, so was thinking of buying a car that she could practise in and drive when test is passed. Budget is £600 to £800 and at the most the car will be covering 8,000 miles a year, looking for something
  • Driving bigger cars 16 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Other than just getting used to it, is there a best way of getting the hang of driving a bigger car? I'm getting better at the side distance, but reversing around things (E.g. parallel parking) and up against things still gives me the heebie-jeebies! I always seem to manage a fairly good parallel
  • What happened to Test Drive magazine? 5 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Does anyone know if Test Drive magazine has been pulled from publication? I liked the format and down to earth road test articles but I haven't seen the magazine in the shops for a couple of months now and a Google search doesn't give me any info. Nor does Dennis Publishing website.
  • Vauxhall 3 day Test Drive 4 Apr 2006 (Forum)
www.offers.vauxhall.co.uk I see once again Vauxhall are offering their cars for a 3 day test drive. I took advantage of this last year to try the Astra Sports hatch and although I disliked the car, the actual procedure was relatively fuss-free with no hard pressure sales. Might try out a new

  • very short drives: how bad are they ? 1 Dec 2003 (Forum)
We have to frequently drive 2 miles to the nearest park to walk our dog, it varies but on average 5 times a week. Is this likely to cause damage to the 2 Litre petrol engine (it's a new Mazda) and how badly ? I read that it might seeing as a car needs over 3 miles to complete a full cycle.

Car drives perfectly. Idling is perfect. BUT engaging drive the lever baulks and when forced in causes a horrible crunching noise. The button on the side of the gearlever is fine. The crinching noise comes from the gearbox rather than the base of the lever. Also hard to move out of drive. You need

  • Suzuki Splash - drive shaft seal leaking 10 Apr 2018 (Forum)
Hi, posted this in the technical section but thinking about it I'm not sure if it's really a technical enough question - oh well! Took my wife's splash for the annual service and was advised rear shock absorber requires replacement but also that the o/s drive shaft seal is leaking
