  Many moons ago I used to carry quite a selection of tools in the boot on the chance that my old cars would break down. Socket set, screw drivers, spare spark plug, monkey wrench, foot pump etc. Nowadays I carry nothing except the spare wheel and jack. What tools do you guys now carry

  I have had this car from new, using a Nokia 6310i with Bluetooth.  Phone has packed up and need new with Bluetooth compatible with the BMW's. Have checked out the BMW site for compatability, but cannot enter my model year, possibly because it's too old?  Anyone help please?

  I am going to replace the radiator on my 1998 2.3 Honda Shuttle LS auto. I have replaced radiators before on old cars - 4 bolts and 2 hoses. I imagine that it is not as simple as that. Anything I should lok out for?

  A delightful little roadside scene this afternoon. A 7/8 year old boy in school uniform, unashamedly playing with a "hot wheels" model car set. Could have been a scene viewed at any time in the last 100 years, proves that kids' imagination is alive and well despite being the big screen generation.

  Now that ECUs can put a car into "limp mode" should a defect be detected, could the service indicator be added to the "defect list" in the future? A delay of say 2,000 miles or 2 months could be applied and the manufacturers would probably claim "emmissions check" or some other green reason
• E-marking changes 30 Jan 2008 (Forum)
  I've been told that E-marking changes came in last year using a larger encircled E - the "informer" also stated that components with old E-marking can only be used on older cars that were similarly marked. This sounds totally unworkable - has anyone else heard about this - am I just being wound up?

  Being a bloke that loves saloon cars above all others, I'm thinking of buying a 2litre Kia Magentis automatic ( three years old ). People IMO don't seem to be able to comment on them, but i think its solid Mitsubishi technology at a knockdown price, for the savvy on a budget. I do my own oil

  i run a set of steel wheels during the winter to save my nice alloys..ive noticed the michelins i have on there are cracking due to old age i guess anyway they'l soon need replacing. are remoulds worth thinking about? they dont have to look sexy or give race car handling..i may even consider

  Does any body have any thoughts on why MPG on my Multispace HDi should vary from 30 to 45 over a few months, not as a steady decrease but haphazardly? OK its a 2450 mile second car, 6 months old but is that it? Would good hard everyday driving sort it? Or is this a common HDi problem?

  A friend with a 4 yr old Honda Civic reports that every evening his chores include the removal of a fuse from the car. If he doesn't do this he ends up with a flat battery in the morning, he says that the RAC advised him that the fuse was in the a/c circuit. Has anyone else heard

  The exhaust emissions warning lamp has occasionally stayed illuminated for a full day's driving on my 6 month old Seat Arosa 1.0. The car drives just as well as before. Does anyone know what exactly the waraning lamp means and is a visit to the dealer service department really urgently required

  My wife has a 14 month old Focus which is a great car generally. However the one thing that annoys me when I drive it is the high point of engagement of the clutch, compared to most other card I drive. I know the focus (1.6 Zetec) has a hydro clutch, but is it possible to adjust this bite-point

  Can anyone confirm if my catalyst will suffer as a result of high oil consumption on my FSI engine? I'm using 0.5l/1000km at 27k miles 12mths old!! (No help from Audi as they say this is to spec!) Is my CAT still working ? Can anyone advise if my car would pass an emission MOT test??
