The research I've been waiting for 14 Mar 2006 (Forum)
From Autoexpress: "Don't bother polishing your car - it wastes fuel! Scientists have discovered that rough surfaces can be more aerodynamic than shiny ones by helping vehicles slip through the air more efficiently. If the bumps are the size and shape of tiny cylinders, they keep the air flowing -

Which van to buy? 8 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Following the "Transit van economy/specs" thread. I am thinking of buying a Transit-sized (medium high roof) van. Economy in terms of fuel consumption/spares'n'repairs is important, as is reliability. I know little of vans. Any ideas/pointers to suitable vehicles, or "things to think about -

BMW 316ti Problem 20 Sep 2004 (Forum)
I have a problem with my 2002 BMW 316ti Compact. When the car is started from cold, it is very 'spluttery' (as if the choke hadn't been out for long enough!) and noisy. Once it has warmed up, it still seems 'flat' and as if it is in need of fuel. I have taken it to my local dealer 5 times -

'Energy' tyres - worth the extra cost? 7 May 2004 (Forum)
I wil need two new tyres on the front of my 406 soon. Currently fitted with Michelin Energy, these are about £10 per tyre more than the standard Michelins. Does anyone have any data to show whether or not these are worthwhile in terms of better fuel consumption? Or is this just another ploy -
Accord Coupe 2 Mar 2004 (Forum)
I am thinking about buying an Accord coupe. I am not sure however whether to go for the 2.0 or the 3.0. The 3.0 is 200bhp and 0-60 in about 8 secs which sound like fun. However presumably the downside is worse fuel consumption (not too worried about this); higher servicing costs?; harder -
Golf MkII Central Locking 20 Feb 2004 (Forum)
I have a 1991 driver with pneumatic central locking. Up 'til now, the locking mechanisms have been working sporadically. Recently however, the pump makes a noise in the boot and nothing happens. This wouldn't be much of a problem, had the fuel filler cap latch not locked! Consequently, I can't -
