  • Mondeo Immobiliser 15 Aug 2003 (Forum)
I have a 1994 Mondeo with a factory fit Bosch immobiliser. It has developed a fault where it is not releasing the fuel pump when you deactivate it. My garage has isolated this part of the system, but say it will have to go to Ford for a complete fix. Has anyone any experience of this system
  • CAT probems 16 Jul 2003 (Forum)
My car has recently been shuddering and then cutting out, could this be related to a faulty CAT or a faulty oxygen sensor? I suspect my CAT is faulty because the car has been giving off various smells such rotten eggs and un-burnt fuel also it sounds as though it is slightly blowing at low speeds.
  • Mercedes C220 1993 20 Jun 2003 (Forum)
Does anyone know anything about fuel gauge sender unit problems associated with blowback when filling tank? Wording amended. Contributing to an online discussion group with the caps lock on is thought to be bad manners (it\'s a way of expressing bad temper because it looks as if you\'re

I have currently got 13 inch rims with 185/13/65 tyres. thinking of changing to 15 inch alloys with 195/15/60 tyres. Is this going to be ok? Will they fit and not cause any problems i.e. gearbox ratio/fuel consumption/steering/suspension? Many Thanks Sarb

  • Smelly Car 2 Mar 2003 (Forum)
What would cause a car (with CAT) to smell horribly like eggs after a high rev run. The run doesn't even have to be that long. I dont think its the fuel im using cause i've switched to different good brands, but the problem remains. It is ok if I dont use high revs that much.

  • Diesels 5 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Aside from cost, what is the advantage ? Other than longevity, MPG, and in some countries, fuel costs, why else would you choose to drive diesel over petrol ? I might for towing, although I'd prefer a bloody great petrol engine. But I'd choose the petrol every time. Anybody else have a view ?
  • Esso diesel 4 Nov 2001 (Forum)
I have a diesel powered 406 HDI and find that Esso fuel makes this car go much better than any other diesel. Why might this be ? and do peugeot throw all their cars together in such a slipshod way as they assembled mine ? it rattles like a set of spanners having a gang bang in a filing cabinet.
  • Low sulphur diesel 7 Oct 2001 (Forum)
The "stab" as in stables and the horsebox is pulled by a K reg Toyata Land Cruiser 2.5TD. Saw your comments on injector pump failure (Fiesta Oct 6)and wonder if adding 1 cc of SAE 30 to each 1 L of diesel fuel whould not solve this problem. Comments (but not as to the greeness) would

Cost £7000 Pros:- Newer car I like the raised seating position and better all round visibility. Good fuel economy figures Cons:- 1.6 engine. May not be large enough for a car of this size. Needs to be worked hard, according to motoring reviews

  • Any - Cheap way improve fuel economy by 10% ? 24 Sep 2014 (Forum)
I have developed and tested a simple method of imrpoving the overall fuel economy of my 1248 cc, NA supermini by around 5 mpg (10%) from 49 mpg to 54 mpg - based on careful 'brim to brim' measurements and meticulous petrol logs kept since purcasing the car from new over a 3 year period
  • Renault Espace (2002 - ) - 05 2.2 DCi Auto poor fuel economy 9 May 2012 (Forum)
Hello - I just wandered if anyone in this forum can pass an informed eye on the fuel economy I am getting ( or not getting ) from my Sept 2005 Diesel Espace 2.2DCi (non-FAP apparently). It is a 5 speed Auto with the "tiptronic" option - i.e pushing the stick to the left turns it into a clutchless

Hi all My diesel 520 failed to start after a boxing day shopping trip. The iDrive was reporting fuel pump failure then cruise control failure, then reported it was launching some kind of Start Assist program. Upon pressing the start button the engine was attempting to turn but was not firing
  • any - who adds 2SO to their diesel fuel 1 Jun 2011 (Forum)
I wonder if there are any motorists out there who add 2SO to their diesel fuel . Dont use red 2SO otherwise you have a job explaining why you have what appears as red diesel in the tank to a fuel dipper ! Extract  " due to the pollution control measures of the EC diesel

without issue. It's been serviced by me for the 2 yrs I've had it, and doesn't seem to have been particularly abused prior to that. Not that the 1.7TD has much scope for abuse, but that's a different thread altogether :) The last time I came to change the fuel filter (about 109,000 miles), when I put

decline then increase in acceleration rate. This stays and pulses about every 3-5 seconds. when accelerating through the gears there is a hesitancy above 3500 rpm but it pulls well up to that point. It feels almost like Fuel starvation or a fuel supply problem, another hypothesis is a waste gate which
