Volvo V90 Cross Country (2017 - 2023)
2.0 D4 190hp Cross Country Plus AWD 5dr
Volvo XC70 was better, Volvo build is quality better than Mercedes, but Volvo need to improve on the squeaky front seats
After 14 years and over 150,000 miles of trouble free motoring with an XC70, I bought into the Volvo brand..After a pleasing test drive, I changed to a second hand V90 cross country Ocean Racing D4, in April 22. You can’t fault the overall build quality it is certainly better than Mercedes and the safety equipment is outstanding , BUT ?. Automation leads to a boring drive if you are not into gizmos. It’s too automated so I switch a lot of the toys off.The my V90CC spends 90% on rural roads some single track so 40 MPH is probably it’s average speed, the MPG figure is way below the quoted figures. I return on average 34MPG, my old XC70 ( Manual) would constantly give my 40 MPG plus a bit more . The V90 is also not a box like the XC70 therefore the load capacity is significantly reduced. The V90; is still a good car, it’s easy to drive, a good people and dogs carrier , but the XC70 was more practical . A final note, watch out for squeaky front seats. The leather tends to ware quickly, it creases up and the springs develop a very irritating squeak at 20,000 miles and I am a lightweight at 78 kg. Volvo forum has more comments on this issue .I have own my car 6 months and now looking for something a little more exciting, and without squeaky seats.
