Nearly there!

I got this to replace a 5-series Touring which was getting tired after 177k miles and because of Covid new cars were like hens teeth. It was an ex. Volvo vehicle, 12 months old, 4.5K miles and got a cracking deal. Unfortunately didn`t realise until after we`d signed for it that as it was a `Volvo` registered vehicle they had thrown all the extras on it taking the list price to over £40K, hence the stupid £350-ish extra annual road tax! All that has been said about the hesitant auto-box is spot on, until I got used to I was burning through tyres as I`d go for a gap as in a `normal` car and as there was a delay, instinct to me to `boot-it` to get out of the way, lighting up the front tyres. Apparently, if you get the cars `Polestar optimised` this problem is eliminated - SO WHY NOT DO IT IN THE FIRST PLACE??
Economy is disappointing, at least 10-20 worse than my old 520D BMWs despite driving in a more `relaxed` fashion, except when towing 1535kgs of caravan when it is about the same. Superbly stable and competent tow vehicle. Interior is roomy and well set out, seats comfy but I wish I had the more supportive sports seats in the front. Good size boot ( but I do miss the opening tailgate window of the BMW, you don`t realise how handy it is until it isn`t there). Dealers are efficient but not cheap, the ride is relaxing and the way the car is set up encourages you to `waft` along rather than press on, which it does well. The worst aspect of the car - by a country mile - is the sat-nav. If you do a lot of miles and cover a large area a good one is invaluable (again, the BMW was superb), the Volvo one is absolute, utter dross. You`d be more accurate and faster using a map and A-Z. Or failing that, stars.
