A good motorway cruiser

After 2.5 years and 48,000 miles I am bidding a fond farewell to 2012 VW CC 140 GT diesel.
The car is a fantastic motorway cruiser which is where it spends most of it's life.
I use the excellent Road Trip application on my iPhone and I have measured the mpg for the entire life of the car.
Over 48,000 miles the car has averaged 50.36 mpg with a best of 55 mpg and a worst of 47 mpg.
This gives me a range of about 700 miles per tank.

I don't tend to drive a car to it's handling limits and for my driving style the handling
and the ride of the CC has been fine. The seats are comfortable front and back and I am able to adjust
the steering wheel for a comfortable drive.

Features in the car are great.
As standard i got Leather, DAB Radio, Sat Nav, all round parking sensor and Heated Seats
The car will take 5 people but 4 people is more comfortable.
The boot is a decent size and although the rear seats fold the boot opening is quite narrow so prevents
carrying some items.

Problems

Very few and far between.
Only issue other than routine servicing has been the failure of the reserving lights which stayed on one day
and refused to go out. This required VW to change part of the wiring between the middle of the car and the boot.
The DAB occasionally fails to work and refuses to play any DAB station whilst FM works perfectly.
When the car is restarted a short time later everything is fine and will be for a couple of months.

Any issue is the car is very long (4.8m long) and seems to take up the entire parking space.
You also sit quite low and if I am being very picky you always see finger prints on the windows as windows are frame less.
and the car eats front tyres! - change every 14,000 miles!

I change to a BMW 2 Series Active Tourer next week.
Should be slightly more economical and provide the same internal space for a much smaller package. Most of the time its just me in the car.
Time will tell.
