Vauxhall Antara (2007 - 2015)
2.2CDTi 16V 163 Exclusiv Manual 5dr 4x4
8 years motoring, 2.2L Turbo Diesel goes like a rocket
This has been a great family car. I love it so much I'm reluctant to let it go for the four to five grand I'd get for it. Heated front seats, air con, power steering, front and rear parking sensors, electric windows, tinted Windows, roof bars, electric parking brake and cruise control it takes a big spec to compete directly with this model. I maybe wish I'd bought the automatic for round town driving, but this just eats up motorway miles. While 2WD Jukes and Suzukis slip slide in snow, the 4WD just never flickers, it's tempting to go too fast it's that good in snow. Watch your tyre pressures or fuel economy and ride will dip. It is a large car so can wear heavy on tyres, but is a brilliant drive for the money, albeit hard to squeeze into some city centre parking spaces as it's big! I've looked at it's replacement Grandland X and Antara build quality and interior finish is better and it's bigger. It doesn't do great mpg 28 around doors and 32 on motorways but we knew that from new, and we don't do huge mileage except when taking kids to Uni. I can get 50mpg from our 09 1.4L petrol Hyundai on motorways, so it's not my driving style. Only had two issues, clutch master cylinder failed early on, replaced under warranty, which took Vauxhall a disappointing 6 weeks to find a replacement part and a very slight oil leak from chain cover, which it has passed its MOT with.
