It's large, robust and confortable

I bought this car 2nd hand. I live rurally and needed something that could cope with road depressions and dips full of water and untreated roads in the winter.
The occasional jaunt when fully loaded up and out on holiday camping, inclyding pitches were you drive onto site across muddy fields or up on a slope. Easily fits wife, kids and all camping gear in it's huge boot. 1300+ litres with rear seats up. The 2016 ELX is the very top of the range and is plush. Quite comfortable inside. Rear passengers love the heated rear seats and full leather interior.
During winter having selectable 4H and 4L gearbox with locking differential and snow/ mud selector is brill. Never, ever get stuck. This thing is a tank and puts much more road focussed 4x4s to shame. I've pulled out of muddy camping fields a fair share of Kia Sportages, Hyundai Tucson's and Santa fes as well as the odd RR Evoque and Velars. All of which just can't touch the Rexton. Especially as most SUVs are fitted with summer road tyres that can't deal with mud or snow.
On road it's not as good. Suspension transmits a reasonable amount of the UKs all too common surface imperfections through into the cabin but the passenger seats are comfy and it's middle of the field for a large 4x4 (this isn't a SUV it's a 4x4)
Mpg. On a motorway run with cruise set at 65-70mph I can get 40+ mpg. So not bad at all for such a huge beast.
Towing. I don't stress it too much as only have a lightweight 6ft trailer to tow with camping paraphernalia onboard so not heavy at all. The car does have a 3 ton tow limit, which is huge.
All in. Enjoying the ownership experience. As long as I drive the vehicle as it is eg a big tough 4x4 and don't expect the road holding dynamics or road holding refinements of say an equivalent sized BMW X5, Audi Q7 or RR sport or Range Rover you'll be happy enough.
12,700 miles into my ownership and no repairs as yet. So fingers crossed that will continue. Not sure how easy obtaining parts are??? although I'm lucky to have a Ssangyong dealer 3 miles from my home and parts appear to be readily available online to order.
