Honda Jazz (2008 - 2015)
1.4i ES i-SHIFT 5dr Auto Hatchback
Good overall package but unreliable gearbox
The car by itself it's a good thought out design with lots of room and space for a small hatch. Reasonable size boot and practical"Magic Seats" arrangements. 5/6 cup holders. General refinement is good with a quiet engine on idle and overall car is well made and engineered with no sharp edges.
Engine is reliable and this keeps the costs down. Wear and tear items are affordable if you shop around. Road tax is £110 and fuel costs is average. Insurance slightly higher than your average Corsa.
The downside is that engine performance is quite average-I have to use Shell V-POWER to get the extra performance.
The i-SHIFT semi auto gearbox has been unreliable. Actuator had to be repaired-£360, Honda wanted £2000! Car broke down due to this defect. The i-SHIFT itself can be jerky especially when it's cold. It does creep on a slop so you have to learn how to use the hill assist. Paddle shift adds to the fun but perhaps the engine is a bit weak for this function.
Recommend the fully auto CVT and manual version but not the i-SHIFT.
