Roomy, Economical and Comfortable

After having had diesels for the last 13 years and a Citroen Picasso C3 1.6 Hdi Exclusive for the last 4 years, decided that a change to petrol was required, as Diesels seem to be demonised by all and will probably end up having to pay a lot more to be on the road. The Picasso had been faultless, but at 7 years old it was time for a change before the big bills arrived.

The Jazz has taken a bit of time to get used too and it took a while to find a comfortable driving position and the characteristics of a petrol engine, especially as the Jazz is happy to run in 5th gear in 30 speed limits.

Bells and whistles are a pain for seat belts, keys in and lights left on, economy has been a pleasant surprise with a return of 48 mpg in the first 1000 miles, with some 10% of that towing a trailer.

My Picasso had auto lights, auto wipers, auto folding mirrors and parking sensors, but all these are expensive extra's on Honda's even if available.

The car came with mud flaps fitted and I have had a towbar and reverse parking sensors installed.

Was surprised that Insurance cost was much higher for the Jazz than my Picasso diesel, but a change of insurance company sorted out that problem.

Overall very pleased with my purchase, which was purchased from a Honda Dealer with 12 month warranty. I was offered GAP insurance but declined as I was able to purchase much longer back to invoice GAP insurance from the Honest John website for less than half the cost.

After 3 months of ownership, mpg has now reached 50.2, excellent for a petrol engine.
There has been an annoying body creak from the nearside rear, but as it is intermittent have been reluctant to take it back to the dealer, however have now identified it as coming from the rear suspension and have booked it in to my local Honda main dealer, as I have a 12 month Honda warranty.

Tyres fitted are SP Sport 2030 and I find tyre noise high on anything other than perfectly smooth tarmac and we have very few of those in South West Wales. Not sure if the road noise is due to the tyres or a characteristic of the car, but as there is 7mm tread still on the tyres, will research more when renewing tyres.

May 2018.
Have now decided to Trade in the Jazz as I am finding the road noise on long distances a pain. I did contact Honest John for a solution and the recommendation was to purchase a cheap set of 15 inch alloys and fit Michelin Cross Climate tyres on them.
My wife who has back problems finds the jittery ride and firm seats more of a problem.

For those who wish a good town car, excellent petrol fuel economy, I can highly recommend the 1.4 Jazz..
I did look at changing the Jazz for a Honda HRV, but found my local dealer did not offer a good price to change.

For my next car I have purchased a 2017 Peugeot 308 SW Blue 120 GT Line and will give my views later, but one of my wife's comments after a test drive was that she found it very comfortable.

I had taken out a 4 year Gap Insurance on the Honda through the Honest John Website and I have now transferred this to my Peugeot. The staff were very helpful and the change was easy, obviously there was a cost involved due to purchasing a 11 month old car and the higher value.
