Dacia Sandero (2013 - 2021)
1.5 dCi Laureate
Value
Needed a car less than 5 years old for work and research led me to the Sandero. As I expected to travel 30k+ miles per annum the Renault/Nissan 1.5 dCi engine was a sensible choice.
I bought my Sandero as an ex-display, 10 miles on the clock. Only £8,800, top spec.
So far I've travelled 53k miles in 19 months and I'm very happy with the purchase.
I had one technical issue about 6k in, the air bag light came on and I called the RAC out to take a look. I don't profess to understand the technicalities of the issue but Renault were happy to address under warranty. Note with Dacia you get 3 years/60k roadside assistance.
I drive economically and I'm averaging 70 mpg, mainly motorway miles with no congestion.
One criticism, it is noisey in the cabin on the motorway.
There's no reason why the car won't last 150k miles, given how it's driven and that it will be serviced as per manufacturers guidance. I'll be disappointed if it doesn't.
I'll endeavour to update the review and we will see whether the Sandero stands the test of time. Ratings will improve if it does.
