BMW 2 Series Convertible (2015 - 2021)
220d 2.0 Sport Auto 2dr
Great fun and surprisingly all year round practical for a couple.
This was a rather vain post retirement purchase for my husband and l that has proved to be a surprisingly useful and practical everyday drive. Although a little noisy on start up, the diesel engine soon settles down. The soft top is well insulated so motorway cruising is quiet enough. The strong heating and heated seats makes winter driving a pleasure, even with the roof down. If not provided on purchase a second hand wind deflector is worth getting for top down cruising. The automatic gearbox is a peach.with four modes to choose from. In eco pro mode 60+ mpg is easily achievable on a motorway run. Standard D or comfort mode is fine for everyday driving, whilst sport mode means spirited driving and easy overtakes are a given. Whilst manual mode may seem a little pointless it does allow the driver to select and hold a gear which can be handy in snow and ice as well as adding an element of engine braking whilst travelling downhill in hilly or mountainous areas.
The boot is fine for everyday shopping for two people, whilst the boot plus the back seats have proved more than adequate room for luggage, even for extended continental breaks. Whilst purchase from a BMW main dealer was painless the same cannot be said for servicing and repairs. We found a local independent specialist who is not only cheaper but more trustworthy.
We aim to keep this car for as long as we can. It’s great fun to drive.
