- Bold styling matched by a modern, upmarket interior

- Full reveal in August ahead of UK release in 2024 and prices could start from £50,000
The new Hyundai Santa Fe has been revealed ahead of its official world premiere in August – and what a dramatic-looking large SUV the new Hyundai Santa Fe is.
With distinctive square-edged lines and a plush, modern interior, the new Hyundai Santa Fe is sure to stand out in the seven-seat SUV sector. It also continues the design-led trend of recent new Hyundai models such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric cars.
While the new Hyundai Santa Fe will take on the similarly-priced Land Rover Discovery Sport, it now has the design clout to also challenge the more expensive Land Rover Defender 110. It faces competition from its sister car, the Kia Sorento.
Other seven-seat rivals for the new Hyundai Santa Fe include the new Nissan X-Trail, the every popular Skoda Kodiaq and the family-friendly Peugeot 5008.
2024 Hyundai Santa Fe prices and release date
The new Hyundai Santa Fe has been revealed ahead of its official world debut in August 2023. That’s when we’ll learn all about the new Hyundai Santa Fe’s engines and other technical tricks.
As it doesn’t arrive in the UK until early 2024, new Hyundai Santa Fe prices have not been announced. The current car starts from around £43,000 but this new Hyundai Santa Fe is much more upmarket and premium-like.
It’s therefore likely new Hyundai Santa Fe prices could start from around £50,000 – but that will still undercut the cheapest Land Rover Discovery Sport.
2024 Hyundai Santa Fe styling, interior and technology
The fifth-generation new Hyundai Santa Fe has been transformed. The smoothly-curved current car has become a boxy, square-edged design that is very cool and modern. The designers have nicknamed it ‘the box’, and it’s easy to see why.
The new Hyundai Santa Fe celebrates straight lines and sharp edges. The front is upright, in the style of the Land Rover Defender, and we love the ‘H’ logo in the LED running lights, connected by a vertical LED light bar.
The new Hyundai Santa Fe has prominent, boxy (and very large) wheelarch extensions, a straight shoulderline that runs level from front to rear, and a similarly straight-edged roofline that is angled slightly downwards towards the rear.
At the rear, the new Hyundai Santa Fe has a proud and long overhang. The tail lamps are set low down, with additional ‘H’ logos, and the red light bar wraps around the rear. From the back, the new Hyundai Santa Fe is unlike any other car, and intentionally “unconventional” says Hyundai.
The extended rear of the new Hyundai Santa Fe gives a “terrace-like feel” when the tailgate is open. This is enhanced by second- and third-row seats that fold fully flat. Practicality is significantly improved as a result, with the firm claiming class-leading interior space. Hyundai will confirm boot capacity later.
Inside, the new Hyundai Santa Fe has a much more premium and upmarket design than the outgoing model. Hyundai says it has been designed to contrast with the exterior, with plenty of refined, plush colours and trims. The ‘H’ motif can be seen throughout too, in areas such as the air vents.
The new Hyundai Santa Fe has a high-tech dashboard with a panoramic curved display. This blends the 12.3-inch digital driver display and infotainment screen into one elegant panel. Below it is set a climate control panel that combines rotary controls and buttons with an inset digital screen.
The new Hyundai Santa Fe has bright interior colourschemes and headliner, to enhance the feeling of spaciousness. It also has plush wood-patterned garnish and Nappa leather seats, for a high-end feel. Delicate embroidery adds to the sophistication.
The new Hyundai Santa Fe’s interior is green as well, with sustainable materials including a suede headliner, car mats and rear seatbacks all made from recycled plastic. Other parts are made from eco-friendly leatherette.
Practical touches in the new Hyundai Santa Fe include wireless smartphone charging for two devices in the centre console. It has enough space for two tall water bottles and, beneath, an additional open-plan stowage area.
More details of the new Hyundai Santa Fe interior will be revealed during its world premiere in August 2023.
2024 Hyundai Santa Fe engines, performance and fuel economy
Engines, performance and fuel economy for the new Hyundai Santa Fe are expected to be revealed at its world debut in August. However, we already know that the model will continue with regular internal combustion engines, rather than going pure electric.
The current Hyundai Santa Fe has an advanced range of hybrid and plug-in hybrid engines. It is likely these will carry across to the new Hyundai Santa Fe.
The new Hyundai Santa Fe range may open with the 1.6-litre turbo hybrid engine. Today, the system produces 230ps and comes as standard with a six-speed automatic gearbox. Both front-wheel drive and 4x4-ready all-wheel drive versions are available.
The new Hyundai Santa Fe will also come with a plug-in hybrid option, using the same 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine. The current model has a 13.8kWh battery for an impressive pure electric range of up to 36 miles. This may improve yet further with the new Hyundai Santa Fe, if the firm installs a bigger battery. It has a total system output of 265ps.
The current Hyundai Santa Fe also offers a 2.2-litre diesel engine, paired with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic gearbox. We will find out in August if this engine option will continue into the new Hyundai Santa Fe.
Images of the new Hyundai Santa Fe show a 2.5-litre turbo engine option. This is unlikely to come to the UK, but will be an important engine in other countries such as the United States.
The new Hyundai Santa Fe will live up to its 4x4 design with good off-road abilities. This will enable lifestyle oriented-people to go off-road and use their new Hyundai Santa Fe as a working base.
Is the new Hyundai Santa Fe electric?
The new Hyundai Santa Fe seems set to stick with regular petrol engines, with the UK expected to take hybrid and plug-in hybrid motors. A future all-electric Hyundai alternative to the dramatic Kia EV9 will be called the Ioniq 7.
How big is the new Hyundai Santa Fe?
Measurements for the new Hyundai Santa Fe have not been confirmed. The current car measures around 4.8 metres long and it’s likely the new Hyundai Santa Fe will be bigger.
