Peugeot launches new panoramic i-Cockpit
Peugeot has unveiled a new panoramic i-Cockpit design that will make its debut on the upcoming Peugeot 3008 later this year.
The next-generation i-Cockpit features a 21-inch high-definition curved panoramic screen along with a redesigned compact steering wheel and touch-sensitive i-Toggles.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of Peugeot's i-Cockpit and the new design brings together two of the three fundamental elements of the i-Cockpit: the raised head-up display and the large central touchscreen.
These are now integrated into a curved panoramic screen consisting of a single 21-inch high-definition panel that extends from the left-hand end of the dashboard to the centre console.
The screen is mounted from the rear in a way that remains invisible, creating a 'floating' effect that is further enhanced by LED mood lighting beneath the screen.
On the left-hand side of the panoramic screen, the instrument cluster displays all the relevant driving information such as speed, driving aid, and energy flow, positioned above the compact steering wheel.
On the right-hand side, in the centre of the dashboard, the touchscreen section is accessible to both the driver and passenger. It allows control of features such as heating/air conditioning, navigation and media.
The central part of the dashboard houses the i-Toggles, which are fully customizable touch-sensitive buttons. These buttons can be programmed with 10 presets/
To increase storage space and facilitate wireless smartphone charging, Peugeot has moved the automatic gearbox selector to the dashboard, next to the steering wheel and the car's start/stop button.
The compact steering wheel, a key element of the Peugeot i-Cockpit, features a more modern design. The redesigned central cushion is smaller and appears to be 'isolated' from the steering wheel spokes. The controls now employ 'tactile clicking'.
The ambient lighting extends across the entire width of the dashboard and door panels, reflected on an aluminum trim. The lights can be be changed between eight different colours.
